A LITTLE HISTORY: The first BWP breeders started from nothing, no tradition existed for breeding saddle horses and this might have been the key to the success of our studbook. Across borders, our breeders searched for the best genes in order to achieve a sport horse with the highest quality. Although the Belgian Warmblood Studbook is the smallest of the big studbooks, it consistently ranks among the top 5 in the world in recent years. You can find the BWP horses in all equestrian disciplines. Our stallions and foreign stallions approved by us, but originating from other studbooks, excel on the international equestrian scene. The goal of BWP is to breed healthy horses that can perform on the highest level. They have a correct and functional conformation and a good rhythm and regularity in the gaits. BEST JUMPING STUDBOOK OF THE WORLD 2022: 2022 was a dream year for BWP. Three times, in a period of 6 years, we were indisputably Number 1 and always in the Top 4. After being the best jumping studbook of the world in 2017 and 2021, we could reach that top again in 2022. In 2022, the best jumping horse in the world was also a BWP-born horse. This honor was for King Edward, ridden by the Swedish Henrik von Eckermann. King Edward is by Edward x Feo de Lauzelle, breeders: Wim Impens. And he was the second best horse of the world in 2021. The best horse in the breeder rankings 2021? Also a BWP! H&M Indiana (Kashmir van Schuttershof), ridden by the Swedish Malin Baryard-Johnsson. Both horses performed oustandingly at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021. In 2022 King Edward and Henrik von Eckerman repeated their success at the World Jumping Championships in Herning. DARCO – BEST STALLION EVER: Also, the quality of our stallions is visible in the 2022 WBFSH Jumping Sire Rankings. With Toulon (ranked 5th), Eldorado van de Zeshoek (ranked 8th) & Nabab de Reve (ranked 9th). Darco, the legend who put our country on the world map with Ludo Philippaerts, topped the Sire Ranking for five consecutive years. STRENGTHS: Belgian warmblood-BWP is a unique studbook: - Indisputably the best damlines in the world - World top but accessible for all breeders - Unique studbook: from, for and by the breeder Although we are a much ‘smaller’ than the other studbooks, it is thanks to the knowledge of our breeders, thanks to the expertise of our judges, that we always belong to the top of the world.
