It has been a great pleasure to meet Silke and hear about her small and focused breeding operation, which was started by her mare Dark Magic who became the mother not only of Dalera, but with whom Silke had also formed a successful partnership in the sport.
Silke was a great inspiration and an example how breeding and riding can work together in a symbiotic way that puts the unique partnership between rider and horse at the very centre. Her passion, knowledge and commitment shone through and led her to achieve successes that any dressage breeder can only dream of.
As we reflect on Silke’s life, cut all too short at the age of 45 following a grave illness, and as we consider her special contribution to the sport and to breeding, we therefore add to our deep sadness and condolences to her family also a sense of gratitude. Gratitude for a life that has shown us that the dream of breeding and riding in harmony with the horse is very much alive for years to come.
Thank you, Silke, for all you have given us. For your great joy and passion, for your unwavering commitment and for your love for breeding and the sport. Your legacy will live on.
