  • The final of the World Championships for six-year-old horses was a real spectacle, in which the tension high and quality of the horses unprecedented. German rider Katrin Eckermann once again proved her class by capturing the World title for the second year in a row.

A total of 40 combinations managed to qualify earlier this week for this ultimate final for the six-year-old horses in which the level was sky-high, as no fewer than 20 of these 40 combinations managed to secure a place in the exciting jump-off. Therein Katrin Eckermann once again showed her exceptional talent. With the Westphalian mare Sascinora NRW, a daughter of Stakkato-Boy RM and Firth Of Lorne, bred by her father Otmar Eckermann, she clocked an impressive time of 36.73 seconds after an unparalleled jump-off. With this lightning-fast ride, she was more than half a second ahead of the rest of the field and claimed the World Title once again. “What a fantastic day again (laughs). First of all, of course, for the World Title, but also because Sascinora was bred by my father. Just like her mother by the way, which makes it all a bit more special. Christian (Glanemann) bought her last year when she was 5 years old and we gave her some quiet time. I'm really very happy with how everything went this week, because she doesn't really have that much experience at this level yet.”

    German podium

Eckermann topped an full German podium with her victory with the second place for Kendra Claricia Brinkop, who entered the ring as the last combination with her BWP stallion Sniper des Lilas Blancs, a son of Hamilton du Chapitre and Calvaro Z, bred by Simon-Pierre Herbiet. Brinkop appeared to be on her way to victory, but not being able to jump the final Longines oxer on a foward distance caused the clock to stop at 37.24 seconds, leaving the Stephex Stable rider on Silver instead of Gold.

    Second medal for Eckermann

In addition to her impressive victory, Katrin Eckermann also managed to secure the bronze in this exciting finale for the six-year-old horses. Riding the stallion Iron Dames Earl Of Alice, a son of Eldorado van de Zeshoek and Cinsey, bred by Ralf Mewes, she completed a flawless jump-off in 38.17 seconds.
