The WBFSH is proud to present the 2024 Sires of the Year, celebrating the world’s top sires across Dressage, Jumping, and Eventing. This year’s rankings showcase not only the return of some remarkable names but also notable shifts among leading stallions.
Dressage Sires of the Year:
For the third consecutive year, Johnson (Jazz x Flemmingh) tops the Dressage Sire rankings. With an impressive 31,608 points, he secures 1st place with a strong lead. After dropping to fourth place in 2023, from second place in 2022, Quaterback (Quaterman x Brandenburger)climbs back into the top three, taking second place with 27,239 points. Blue Hors Zack (Rousseau x Jazz) remains in the top three, but drops to third pace, having amassed 20,612 points. Through Johnson and Blue Hors Zack, the legnedary sire Jazz maintains his strong influence in modern dressage breeding.
Jumping Sires of the Year:
The Jumping Sire category welcomed a new leader as Kannan (Voltaire x Nimmerdor) claimed the first position with 25,853 points, advancing from his previous third-place. Proving himself as a versatile stallion, he also takes the number five postion in the Eventing Sire Rankings this year. Chacco-Blue (Chambertin x Contender) follows with 24,939 points, maintaining his second-place from last year. With a very narrow margin,he stays ahead of last year's leader, Diamant de Semilly (Le Tot de Semilly x Elf III), who settled into third with 24,839 points, showcasing once again the ongoing neck and neck competition among these elite sires.
Eventing Sires of the Year:
In Eventing, the remarkable Diarado (Diamant de Semilly x Corrado I) solidified his legacy by retaining the number-one position for the third consecutive year with 2,471 points. Obos Quality 004 (Quick Star x Domino) holds his ground in second place with 1,294 points for the second year in a row. After taking first place in 2021, Jaguar Mail (Hand in Glove xx x Laudanum xx) is back in the top three, claiming the third position with 1,280 points.
Yet another year that saw these stallions further confirm their legacy, whose influence will continue to shape the future of equestrian sports and improve the next generations of sport horses.
