  • The Breeder Awards are based on the results obtained during a 12-month cycle, that ends on the 30th of September and that recognizes the best breeder for dressage, jumping and eventing.

« Behind all good horse is a skilled breeder, not a coincidence. »

For the 3rd year in a row, this year’s Dressage Breeder Award goes to late Silke Druckenmüller, who tragically passed only a few weeks ago. She received the honour of the award for breeding the exceptional Trakehner mare TSF Dalera, a daughter of Easy Game out of Dark Magic by Handryk. Together with rider Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (GER), they are simply unstoppable: a European Gold medal, amazing results at the Olympics, World-Cup titles and numerous Grand Prix victories over the past 3 years. As a matter of facts, no later than a month ago they once again won not one but three Grand Prix in Riesenbeck. Nothing can seem to stop this incredible duo from always being on the dressage podiums, aiming for the Paris Olympics in 2024!

As for the Jumping Breeder Award of the year, it goes to the breeder of the outstanding Selle Français Donatello d’Auge, Susana Epaillard Garcia Cereceda, without much surprise, as he continued to top the WBFSH rankings over the past couple of months, leading the way with 1 933 points. Together with Susana’s husband, world’s second-best rider Julien Epaillard, the 10-year-old gelding started to attract the spotlights by winning his first 5* Grand Prix in January 2023, at the Longines World-Cup in Amsterdam and has claimed podiums almost on a regular basis since then. Their most notable result this year is probably their victory at the Longines Global Champions Tour of Monaco’s Grand Prix, awarding them a price money of almost €500,000! Together, they are also the most financially successful couple of the year. Thanks to their victory in Barcelona, they have passed the million Euro milestone in earnings for 2023, as confirmed by the rankings drawn up by Hippomundo website.

Last breeders, but certainly not least, to receive the Breeder Award of the year are J.W & A.P. Jurrius & Vorden, from Stal Nieuwmoed, for their 11-year-old Dutch-bred KWPN Galileo Nieuwmoed (Carambole x Farco von Grondorn) ridden by David Doel. Together since 2018, the couple truly made their way to the top over the past months, with no less than multiple podiums on CCI4 and CSI5* events. One of their greatest achievement this year being their second place at the CSI5*-L Horse Trials in Burghley (GBR) at the end of August, granting them a prize money of £60,000, and counting six other top 10 international finishes on their record as a combination.
